Community Involvement

“A Few Good Elves”
On Saturday, November 25th, a group of volunteers from United Companies joined with Phil Vaughan Construction Management from the local community to carry on a tradition of decorating the Crossroads Assisted Living Center in Rifle, Colorado for the holidays.

The snow the night before would not dampen the spirit of such a dedicated group of elves to carry on this very special community tradition of 12 yrs.

After clearing the snow, the group hung lights, decorations, and installed a host of holiday characters to cover the entire front area and entrance to the home.

The residents watched in anticipation as the busy work took place outside the large bay windows. A number of residents showed early to the dining hall that overlooked the area being transformed. The facility staff provided hot beverages and refreshments for the volunteers and United Companies provided a large barbeque trailer to cook a warm meal to be enjoyed by both the elves and the residents of the home.

By early afternoon, the decorations were coming together to form an impressive holiday panorama to be enjoyed by all the residents as well as the community for weeks to come.

Thanks to all the great volunteers that donated their time and efforts on a chilly Saturday to brighten the spirits of the homes’ residents and the community.

“We can’t say enough about the joy it brings to the hearts of all the seniors and how happy it makes them to know as a group we care enough to take the time each year to brighten the very special Christmas season.” – Ken Steckel
