United Companies Earns Statewide Concrete Recognition
May 6, 2026
The I-70B South of Rood Reconstruction project reflects the kind of persistence and coordination it takes to move work forward, even when the path isn’t straightforward. From multiple bid attempts to strong execution in the field, the United Companies team stayed focused on delivering a high-quality result from start to finish.

This project was originally bid on December 14, 2023. United Companies was the only bidder, and the bid was rejected by CDOT due to being over budget. CDOT adjusted quantities and specifications and re-bid the project on May 2, 2024. United’s bid was again the only bid and was ultimately accepted and awarded.
Adcock Concrete was selected as the concrete subcontractor and issued a subcontract valued at $3,191,754. Over the course of the project, which was completed in December 2025, Adcock placed 7,772 cubic yards of United Companies Redi Mix concrete. A long-standing partner, Adcock Concrete played a critical role in project success during a time of transition following the passing of founder Mike Adcock shortly after work began. New owner partners Juan Macias and Carlos Rivas remained focused on upholding the high standards Mike established, an effort reflected in the final product.
The project was recognized as the “Best Portland Cement Concrete Urban Arterials & Collectors in Colorado in 2025” by the American Concrete Pavement Association. This honor highlights the strength of the entire project team, including Robbie Lewis, Holly Martin, and the River Road Redi Mix crew.
Key contributors also included Project Manager Adam Lynch, Project Manager Jay Gallup, Foremen Hank Taylor (Pipe), Steve Hovde (Excavation & Grade), and others who were instrumental in successfully completing the project on time and exceeding anticipated profit margins.
